The Second Performance Festival: Music Beyond the Premiere
Started in 2006, repeated in 2007, CMC teamed up with the Carducci String Quartet to create London’s newest contemporary music festival. Premieres are rare in this event – Second Glance is more interested in what happens post-premiere!
So much new music has just one performance and is then neglected – Second Glance aims to put that right, providing a platform for music to be heard again, championing it and promoting it beyond the premiere.

In April/May 2006 The Chamber Music Company launched an important new festival in London. Called the Second Glance Festival of New Music it highlighted new work by some of Britain’s most celebrated composers.
Second Glance is a snapshot of the best and most exciting new work in the UK, displaying the talent and brilliance of British composers.. The festival is a new annual fixture in London. Second Glance is a festival of second performances. All the works have been premiered, and they receive that all-important second performance at Second Glance.
